INDOOR REGULATIONS
Online pre-registration for Demonstrations and Group Displays are due by Monday, July 17, 2023, at 11 pm.
Online pre-registration for the other Indoor Classes due by Monday, July 17, 2023, at 11 pm.
Other department registration occurs the Friday before the fair, August 4, 2023, of the fair between 3 PM and 6 PM
To prepare for Friday registration, follow the online directions to receive an exhibitor number in advance (via email), AND then print and complete the exhibitor registration form and tag. Bring these items to Friday's registration. Exhibitors must follow the general guidelines on this page and those that are unique to each department when preparing exhibits for show at the Hereford Jr. Farm Fair. Failure to follow guidelines may result in a lower score or in disqualification from a class.

IMPORTANT: After you complete the online registration, print a score sheet for each entry (pdf links to print the score sheets are on each of the indoor class pages just above the class # and class description), fill it in, and attach it to your entry as instructed.

BEFORE Friday:
A. Follow the online directions to register, the deadlines for the online registration are listed above.
B. Print and complete the exhibitor registration form (use the exhibitor number that you received via email)
C. Print and complete the exhibitor tag forms for each exhibit (follow specific department guidelines)
ON Friday:
A. 3 PM to 6 PM: bring entries to the Baltimore County Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park main building. Exhibitors who did not previously apply for an exhibitor number will be issued one on Friday.
B. Exhibitors take their entries that have been correctly and securely tagged directly to the appropriate Department Head for class registration. Please review Department rules for specific tagging needs.
C. 6:30 PM: all exhibits must be entered into Department Classes.
D. 6:45 PM doors close for judging. There shall be no admittance to the exhibit area while judging is in progress.
ON Saturday:
A. 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM: Exhibits must remain in place with ribbons attached for public viewing.
B. 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM: Exhibitors (or their designee) pick up any premiums (cash awards for first, second and third place) from the office. Any unclaimed premiums will be returned to the general fund after 30 days. Exhibitors pick up exhibits. Any unclaimed exhibits will be disposed of at the conclusion of the fair.
Rules of Competition
1. Specific judging criteria for each Department is provided on the Department’s web page.
2. Exhibits may be excluded from judging if:
• The Department Chairman determines that the exhibit is not a credit to the Fair or if the exhibitor is not complying with the rules or spirit of the Fair.
3. The Department Chairman reserves the right to move an exhibit from one class to another if it was deemed to be incorrectly entered.
4. An exhibitor is allowed only one entry per class unless specified under department rules.
5. Levels of Competition: (Age eligibility is determined as of January 1 of the current year)
Under 9 – This level is for any exhibitor under the age of 9. If a class is not available for Under 9, then the exhibitor may enter a Junior Class.
Junior – This level is for ages 9 to 13. If there are no Under 9 classes available in a department, then exhibitors under the age of 9 may also enter this category.
Senior – This level is for ages 14 – 21.
Special Note
If any exhibitor removes any fair entries before 3 PM or the specified time as determined by the Fair Coordinator, they will forfeit ALL of their premiums in the Fair for both indoor and outdoor exhibits.
HEREFORD JUNIOR FARM FAIR INDOOR REGULATIONS
All exhibits must be grown, produced, or made by the exhibitor and be the result of the current year’s work.
Competent Judges will be selected and their decisions will be final.
No department or exhibitor is to use latex balloons in decorations.
PREMIUMS: Due to proposed Maryland budgetary constraints that are beyond the control of the Hereford Junior Farm Fair, the Board reserves the right to reduce the premium monies.
All reasonable precautions will be taken for the safety of people while on the Fairground’s property but the Fair Board and Association will not be responsible for injury to any person
Only Judges, Superintendents, and those having officially designated duties will be allowed in the Exhibit Building during the time of judging.
EXHIBITORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR REMOVING ALL ITEMS AND LEAVING THEIR AREAS CLEAN ON SATURDAY BY 5 pm. ANY EXHIBIT REMAINING ON THE FAIRGROUNDS PAST 5 pm, SATURDAY, WILL BE DISPOSED OF! All stall and pen areas must be cleaned and approved by Department Superintendents before release. All bedding is to be removed to proper disposal area. Premium monies will be withheld if stall and pens areas are not cleaned and approved. Except where stated in a Department’s rules, exhibitors will forfeit all Premium Money, Ribbons, and Trophies; on all of their projects exhibited if they remove any one or all of their Indoor Exhibit(s) or Animal Exhibit(s) BEFORE designated release times stated in the Fair Schedule. NO EXCEPTION WILL BE MADE FOR AN EARLIER RELEASE.
The Fair management reserves the right to amend or add to these rules and regulations as the judgment may determine
All exhibitors agree to be bound by the rules and regulations of the Hereford Junior Farm Fair.
THE DECISION OF THE JUDGES SHALL BE FINAL IN ALL CLASSES. Any person wishing to protest must do so in writing within twelve hours after the awards are made.
Anyone not abiding by these rules and regulations or exhibiting improper behavior will be removed from the Fairgrounds and exhibitor will forfeit premiums.
No exhibitor shall discriminate against anyone due to; race, age, sex, color, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, religion, political affiliation, and gender identity or expression.
