AWARDS AND PREMIUMS

INDOOR DEPARTMENTS

  1. Ribbons will be awarded in each class for the 1st through 6th places in the Jr and Sr age groups.
  2. Ribbons will be awarded in each Under 9 class for the level of work, Gold (excellent), Silver (good), Bronze (acceptable).
  3. Premiums for Group Displays: Science Fair and Trifold: $7.00 for each exhibit
  4. Premiums for Demonstrations: $10.00 for each demonstration
  5. Premiums and Awards for ALL OTHER Indoor Departments as shown in the table below.

Ribbons
Ribbons awarded in each Under 9 class of Gold, Silver, or Bronze as judges deem appropriate.


Ribbons awarded in each Junior class for 1st through 6th place as judges deem appropriate.
Ribbons awarded in each Senior class for
1st through 6th place as judges deem appropriate.
Special 
A Special Award ribbon will be given to the best exhibit, per department, chosen from the Gold level Under 9  winners.
A Special Award ribbon will be given to the best exhibit, per department, chosen from the 1st place Junior winners.
A Special Award ribbon will be given to the best exhibit, per department, chosen from the 1st place Senior winners.
Champion
A Champion Award will be awarded to the entry that best represents each Department. The judges will use the exhibits that received the Special Award ribbon (Under 9, Junior and Senior) to make their determination as to the one exhibit they feel best represents the department and earns the Champion in the Department.
 



Tom LaMonica Memorial Award (formally known as the People's Choice Award):  On Saturday, each visitor may vote for their favorite Indoor Department Champion.  The Department Champion with the greatest number of votes will receive the Tom LaMonica Memorial Trophy. Exhibitors may receive the People’s Choice Award once, and will not be eligible to receive the award a second time.


OUTDOOR DEPARTMENTS

Exhibitors will receive premiums for up to 7 entries per species. Premiums are paid per head entered not per class entered.
Cattle $16/hd
Sheep $10/ hd
Goats $10/ hd
Swine $10/ hd
Rabbit/Cavy $5/hd

Showmanship $10/ class/species

For example, you may show a doe goat and her doe kid, each in their respective age class as well as the dam and daughter class and the showmanship class. You will receive $30 premiums for your entries. 




NOTICE: Due to proposed Maryland budgetary constraints that are beyond the control of the Hereford Junior Farm Fair, the Board reserves the right to reduce the premium monies.
